Christian Newswire/ -- As the leading Catholic Syndicated Morning Talk Show Host in America for over 20 years airing on 500+ radio stations nationwide every weekday,
Teresa Tomeo has her finger on the pulse with regards to this issue, and has interviewed countless bishops, priests, lay people regarding this issue of prominent Catholics in the public eye that support abortion
up through and even past birth, and also with regards to their reception of Holy Communion.
Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone of San Francisco sent a
personal notice to Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the United States Congress, asking her not to present herself in her own Archdiocese of San Francisco to receive Holy Communion, until she publicly repudiates her support for abortion. The Archbishop said his step was pastoral, not political.
Tomeo stated, "The Archbishop's decision to bar the House Speaker, who continually describes herself as a 'devout Catholic,' from receiving Holy Communion, is done not only out of concern for Nancy Pelosi, but for Catholics in the Archdiocese of San Francisco and at large. As the archbishop said in his statement, he has reached out to her repeatedly over the years in an effort to explain the conflicting messages she is sending while receiving the Eucharist and openly supporting abortion, most recently pushing to codify abortion on the federal level."
In addition to issuing the statement to Nancy Pelosi, Tomeo explained the archbishop has also sent a letter to priests and lay faithful, explaining his decision. "This is an opportunity for all Catholics to revisit the teachings of the Church, to pray for a deeper understanding and appreciation of our faith, especially regarding core teachings on abortion and in light of
Roe vs. Wade about to possibly be overturned," Tomeo added.
Tomeo is available for interviews.
