COLUMBIA, S.C. Oct. 2, 2024 /Christian Newswire/ -- On September 6, 2024, E. Ray Moore, co-founder and president of Frontline Ministries, Inc., and director of Exodus Mandate, announced keynote speaker Dr. Carl J. Broggi as the recipient of the 2024 Dr. Robert Dreyfus Courageous Christian Leadership Award. Moore presented the Award at the Frontline Ministries, Inc., 30th Anniversary Banquet on Friday, September 6, 2024, at First Presbyterian Church in Columbia, SC.

Established by Frontline Ministries, Inc., in 2007, this award is presented annually to recognize and honor Christian leaders who have exhibited moral courage through their unique contribution to the Church by advancing Christianity in the culture and life of the nation. This contribution may run counter to the prevailing culture of the Church and society.

Carl Joseph Broggi was born in Lowell, MA, on Sept 13, 1956. Carl grew up in Worcester, MA. Carl entered the Carroll School of Management at Boston College (1974-1978) thinking he would eventually work at a "Big Eight" accounting firm. While attending a Campus Crusade for Christ meeting however, as he was being trained to share the gospel, he himself discovered that he had never received Christ as his personal Savior. By his senior year, he knew he wanted to join the staff of Campus Crusade for Christ (CCC) and spend his life sharing the gospel and teaching the Bible. His first assignment was at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he met a student named Audrey McKay who would become his wife after her graduation. In June of 1980, Carl and Audrey married. They were then assigned to Duke University to begin a new CCC ministry. Carl served there five years as the campus director and saw many students become Christians and devote their lives to fulltime Christian service.

Following Duke, he completed a Master of Theology degree (ThM) at Dallas Theological Seminary in Dallas, TX, and a Doctorate of Ministry (DMin) at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX. While at seminary, he served as the director of Campus Crusade's Executive Ministries in Dallas, TX, as well as the pastor of evangelism at Lake-Pointe Church in Rockwall, TX. Carl took courses and learned from great men such as Dr. Dwight Pentecost, Dr. Howard Hendricks, and Dr. Boyd Hunt.

In 1990, sensing an irresistible call of the Lord to preach and pastor a church, Carl became the senior pastor of Community Bible Church (CBC) in Beaufort, SC, where he has been ministering ever since. Together with his congregation, Carl is dedicated to spreading the gospel, helping people grow in their faith, and become established in the foundations of the faith. He is headmaster of Community Bible Church Christian Academy for K-12 home education. CBC Christian Academy started in 1992, which has had hundreds of participating families and graduates. CBC currently helps to support over 300 missionaries, both local and worldwide. He serves as president of WAGP 88.7 FM radio station, which provides multi-faceted programming intended to transform and renew our minds in Christ. Carl provides leadership to The Institute of Biblical Studies, a continuing education opportunity for those who desire a Certificate of Biblical Studies. Carl also serves as president of Search the Scriptures radio, broadcasting his messages largely to East Coast stations and worldwide on the Internet. Carl and his wife, Audrey, have four sons, a daughter, two daughters-in-law, a son-in-law, and an increasing number of grandchildren.

Carl stated,

"It is an immense honor to receive the Robert Dreyfus Award, and I am deeply humbled by this recognition. This award reflects not only my efforts but also the support and collaboration of countless individuals who have been instrumental in my journey. I am encouraged to continue pursuing excellence in our shared mission of helping Christian families to pursue Christian alternatives in the education of their children."

Chaplain E. Ray Moore, president of Frontline Ministries, Inc., and director of the Exodus Mandate Project, and former chairman of CEI (www.Christedu.org), noted,

"I am honored to present Carl Broggi with this award for his leadership, determination, and passion for making biblical worldview Christian education a priority in his church, in America, and worldwide."

Dr. Robert Dreyfus, for whom this award is named, is a prominent retired Florida dentist and inventor of a device to relieve neuromuscular pain for dental use. He served as president of the Florida Dental Society of Anesthesiology. He has given more than 50 years of volunteer work on behalf of family values and K-12 Christian education in Florida and has served as the Florida state coordinator for the Exodus Mandate Project from November 2004 until his retirement in 2019.
