WASHINGTON, Feb. 6, 2024 /Christian Newswire/ -- In a letter sent to Dr. Francisco J. Diaz, Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia, the American Center for Law and Justice stated:
"We are writing on behalf of our clients, Rev. Patrick and Mrs. Katie Mahoney, to request that pursuant to D.C. Code § 3-413, they be given the rights and duties of next of kin for five babies whose bodies are currently in your custody."
The letter goes on to state;
"As no next of kin has come forward to claim these babies, despite the publicity surrounding their deaths, our clients, Rev. and Mrs. Mahoney, are requesting, under D.C. Code, to be given 'the right to control the disposition of the remains of a deceased person, the location and conditions of interment, and arrangements for funeral goods and services,' as volunteers per D.C. Code § 3-413(a)(5). Both Rev. and Mrs. Mahoney are competent adults, and Rev. Mahoney is a Presbyterian minister and the Director of the Christian Defense Coalition, based in Washington, D.C.
"He has been an ordained minister for 47 years and has presided over many funerals and memorial services. It is important to both him and his wife, along with others, that these aborted children have a dignified burial and memorial service."

Rev. Patrick Mahoney, Director of the Washington, DC based Christian Defense Coalition, comments:
"Our hearts break as we consider this unspeakable betrayal of human rights and justice through late-term abortion violence against these five innocent children. Our hope would first be these children are not destroyed, but remain as evidence in a potential federal crime of infanticide through partial-birth abortion.
"However, if the Washington, DC Medical Examiner decides to discard these innocent children, we would ask under DC code and law that they would be given to us so we could ensure they receive a proper and dignified burial. It is critical we honor their lives and embrace the simple truth that all human life has value, purpose, and meaning."
