LOS ANGELES, July 27 /Christian Newswire/ -- What was David’s secret that enabled him to defeat Goliath? How did Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego survive in a white-hot brick furnace? What became of the Ark of the Covenant? What evidence did Christ leave behind of his resurrection that modern science can confirm today?
These and dozens more questions are answered in “Ancient Secrets of the Bible,” a 13-part television series airing on Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) beginning August 2nd at 6 p.m. (PST).
David Balsiger, field producer and director for the series, explained that “Ancient Secrets of the Bible” is a dramatic, reality-based investigative series that uses the latest in science and technology to explore many of the Bible’s most complex mysteries. “Provocative and surprising evidence in the form of expert testimony, historical insights, archaeological findings, and scientific experiments confirm that many of the most controversial biblical stories are indeed factual and reliable accounts,” said Balsiger, who spent two exciting years shooting the series on location in five countries and in over 60 cities in the United States.
The series, which previously aired worldwide on the Discovery Channel and on the CBS-TV Network as numerous prime time specials, has received a wide range of critical recognition, including three Covenant Awards, five Telly Awards, and three Religion in Media Angel Awards.
Perhaps the most compelling endorsement, however, comes from one of the experts and Bible critics who actually appears in the series. “I was a high-profile Bible skeptic who for years wrote and spoke against the Bible and Christians,” said Austin Miles, former humanist Bible critic who authored the book Don’t Call Me Brother. “Participating in the ‘Ancient Secrets’ television series as a Bible critic ended up restoring my own faith in the Holy Bible after seeing the scientific evidence that was presented.”
Paul Crouch Jr., vice president of administration for TBN, noted that “Ancient Secrets of the Bible” is representative of the unique and creative programming that TBN has brought its viewers for over 30 years. “This award-winning series is the kind of show that sets TBN apart,” said Crouch. “It’s part of our ongoing commitment to challenge, inspire, and entertain our viewers 24-hour per day with the best in faith-based programming.”
