Reeling from another disappointing election cycle, Californians are under a new onslaught of ungodly laws like Proposition 1, which protects late-term abortion until the last day of the ninth month by inserting it into the California Constitution. Yet, in the aftermath of this deluge of darkness, the film Jesus Revolution is releasing February 22, the Asbury Revival is capturing headlines, and the book Redeem California: With God All Things Are Possible was released on Valentine's Day, prompting many to remember that California is branded by God's historical, incredible moves.NEWS PROVIDED BY

TULARE COUNTY, Calif., Feb. 21, 2023 /
Christian Newswire/ -- California is a state drenched with God's purpose. As Kathy J. Looper, LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist) and author, points out in Redeem California: With God All Things Are Possible (Post Hill Press, February 14), God has actively moved in the state for hundreds of years.
"God has consistently worked in and through this state through people like Father Junípero Serra, the 'Apostle of California,' who established missions from San Diego to Monterey and prayed from midnight until dawn to see Christ touch the lives of those around him," Looper says.
"He used William J. Seymour and the pouring of the Holy Spirit in the Azusa Street Revival, and Aimee Semple McPherson, considered one of 'the most significant revivalists in the early twentieth century.' He then ignited a massive revival through Billy Graham's crusades in the 1940s and Chuck Smith and the Jesus People Movement in the late 1960s, as highlighted in the new film Jesus Revolution."
During a time when people marched in antiwar protests, when our nation grieved Martin Luther King, Jr.'s assassination, and the sexual revolution and psychedelic drugs were unleashed on the public, God decided to reach down from Heaven and stir the hearts of young men and women in California.
"The 60s were a very dark hour in the history of the state and the country, and it was in that moment the light of Christ drew young people to Him, and the gospel was received, and lives were changed," Kathy says. "Today, with the onslaught of gender confusion, opioid addiction, and the explosion of mental illness, it would be just like God to act in this moment."
During that time of overwhelming anxiety and violent social breakdown, the Holy Spirit swept through the younger generations, and millions came to the know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. They were drawn in by His love and peace and changed by His forceful life and willing sacrifice. It seems California and America are poised for another move.
"What if California is on the verge of a revival that combines all of what has come before to wash away the greatest deluge of sin we have seen in decades? I think God has picked a fight for us," Looper says. "Christians everywhere are face to face with the Goliaths of this age. They are no longer hiding; they are in plain sight, taunting us. Can't you hear the demonic roar? They demand we answer: 'Who is your God? Who are you, Christians?' They are slandering us and declaring that we have no power!"
Many in California might feel powerless with the onslaught of laws, policies, and restrictions unleashed to control the people which looks unstoppable.
"Many of us are frozen in fear," Kathy says. "That is why I was so moved to write Redeem California. We have the same God David had on his side: Jehovah, the great and Almighty God, the creator of Heaven and Earth, the Alpha and Omega, who fights for us. And as He says in Joshua, 'One man of you shall chase a thousand, for the Lord your God is He who fights for you, as He promised you' (Joshua 23:10 NKJV)."
Redeem California: With God All Things Are Possible is a clear reminder sent to Christians that they can't let temporary setbacks keep us from the reality of God's identity.
"The God we serve is all powerful and mighty," Kathy says. "Isaiah 59 says that God's hand is not weak that He cannot save. We have the all-powerful God on our side. He is greater than Satan—He's already defeated, Satan. We can't forget that."
God is ready to enforce what Jesus did on the cross by warring and executing judgment through our words and actions.
"With God, we fight from the place of ultimate strength. We can win this war against this demonic agenda trying to destroy everything God created and established," Kathy says. "We have the Spirit of God abiding in us and are not waging war in vain. God loves California. He's put so much into it and born so much out of it; I am convinced He will move in and through it again."
